Orlando Enraged is the first live performance held in Pavia after the first Italian lockdown (July 2020).
Symbolically, the idea was to create bold and catching graphics to celebrate the event as a real rebirth.

The performance was an alternation of music (madrigals) and readings conceived around the main topics of Ariosto’s poem. As a consequence, the visual layout of the poster is full of cross references, translating into images the complexity of the poem and its whole plot.

L’Orlando Furioso was the very first live event after a very long time and there was the will (and the need)
to live it as a cheerful event. The main challenge was to design something joyous keeping in mind how complex and horrible was the time we were living in. The visual layout has to be optimistic without being offensive or inapposite.

The two visuals resume the main themes of Ariosto's poem.

The first visual is typographic. The concept is simple. I transformed every single "O" in a geometric shape,
a remind to Angelica's ring which makes people (in this case the letters) softly disappear.

The second visual is illustrational, a collage made of graphics and a picture.
The giant "O" stands for Orlando and for Angelica's ring. The moon is turned into its precious stone, but it’s also a remind to Astolfo’s voyage. 
A curvy, fancy horse stands above the ring, as a reference to the epic theme of the poem.
It has a stilized wings designed in the shape of a music note, to transforms the horse into a hippogryph.

Finally, we thought to create a useful gadget: a fan (you know... July... in Pavia... it might be hot!),
to allow the public to bring the music back home - and wave the virus away.
