MUVE tote bags and notebooks,
a project with MACRO Milano and Anomali Milano
for Museum Musei Store

Illustration: we wanted something to capture the true vibe of Venice without resorting to clichés.
Not focusing on food, gondolas, vaporetti, lions, or pigeons. So, what to choose? Windows.

Why? Because Venetian windows are something special. They overlook everywhere. Windows emerge from
rooftops, skim the water, and open in any wall that offers a promising view. Every Venetian house or palace
seems to have more windows than one would expect on the same surface; sometimes they almost seem
randomly placed, with different styles and shapes on the same façade. Bifores, trifores, quadrifores,
serlianas are multiplications of windows and subtractions of walls. A way to transform darkness into light,
a precious benefit in narrow canals. We imagined a journey through the city, climbing up the bridge stairs,
walking along canals, strolling from one museum to another, from window to window.

The result is a fresh, liberating, and well-balanced composition of geometric shapes and patterns,
equally distributed on the entire surface, on tote bags and notebooks.

Typography: a modern stencil, quite geometrical. A remind to the typography of “Nizioleto” the typical
Venetian road signs, painted directly on the wall. Museum names are placed without any spaces,
not even respecting hyphenation rules. Once again, a visual journey among MUVE Museums.

The Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia (MUVE) brings together 11 museums across the city,
from Palazzo Ducale to Museo Correr, from Ca’ Pesaro to Ca’ Rezzonico, from Palazzo Fortuny to Torre dell’Orologio,
Palazzo Mocenigo, Casa di Carlo Goldoni, Museo del Vetro di Murano, Museo del Merletto di Burano
and Museo di Storia Naturale.
