It is not just one, but many trips. And thousands are also the kilometers covered by the young singer, composer and writer Lisa Maroni. Recorded in Brazil with the participation of local talented musicians the cd is clearly influenced by Brazilian Jazz. It includes beautiful standards of the bossa nova repertoire but also some original compositions of the singer whose musicality and poetry flows through the sound of the languages she’s been exploring for quite a long time.
From her native Italian through her “adoptive” Portuguese occasionally writing and singing in English.
The element that emerges, as the title suggests, is the intimacy, that I tried to translate into a personal graphic layout. The photos of everyday life objects that seem to merge with the page. They’re rounded as the idea of private is, as the auditorium as a privileged way of listening.A million of colors and shades, as the facets of human intimacy and feminine personality are, as the colors of Brazil and as those of Lisa’s voice. An auditorium symbolized by the shell on the cd and by the spiral of stones with which the booklet begins and ends.
Even the typography becomes music, with vowels that are smaller (are they notes?) and letters bound between them, as if to translate into sign the melody of the songs. A women partnership, to give shape to a music that comes from the soul, and to the soul returns.
